This house renovation aims to connect with the lush surroundings through beautiful large cedar doors. Not a small feat as one opening was increased 3 times larger than it's original size. Through careful structural engineering and on-site coordination, the space is flooded with much desired natural light and awarded improved outlook to the lush surroundings.

Functionality and spaciousness are key to the design. A more generous living area is achieved by removing some outdated and cumbersome features, making way for a new access to the cellar below. A new spiral stair in bright colours provides a fun and interesting way to access the cellar to the semi-basement below. The new spiral stair includes a diminishing handrail and can be discreetly covered by the automated hatch. The hatch is covered with the same paving slate as the rest of the house for a seamless and discreet finish.

The original house is built in a unique design of bricks, custom made for this house. The increased access to natural light highlights the bricks uniqueness, whilst the furniture's vibrant colours brighten up the space with their colours and contrasts.

Overall, this project opens up the space and creates a nest in amongst the trees.
